Gorgeous Home Offices and Ergonomic Laptop Stands

Since I started my ergonomic consulting job a couple months ago, I’ve developed a mild obsession with offices! I’ve been spending quite a bit of time searching the Internet for inspiring workspaces, and boy, are there ever a lot of them! I’ve also been on the hunt for great ergonomic equipment, such as laptop stands, standing desks, comfortable keyboards, etc. This is part one of my blog post series on ergonomics and aesthetics! (Unless you count this previous post on ergonomics and aesthetics, which could count as a sort intro!)

Pinterest is a gold mine when it comes to gorgeous office design, décor and organization inspiration! The collages below show only a few of the lovely home offices that I discovered via Pinterest (and pinned to my Workspaces board!):

The Perfect Waffles: Procrasti-baking Adventures

The Perfect Waffles - Productively Procrastinating

Waffles. They’re my new favourite food to make! And they seem to be all the rage on Pinterest and Instagram these days! I made waffles for the first time a little over a month ago (say WHAT?). They were buttermilk waffles with cherry syrup and they were fantastic! Since then, I’ve tried quite a few different waffle recipes in my old and clunky, yet ever-reliable waffle iron! After some experimenting and tweaking, I came up with my easiest, most versatile recipe yet, and I’d like to share it with you today! To me, they’re the perfect waffles! I mentioned these in my last post about my big Sunday brunch, and I don’t want to keep you waiting any longer! Continue reading

A Big Sunday Brunch

Happy Valentine’s Day everybody! A hundred years ago, I’d have been considered a spinster by now… But times have changed! In the media, single people are so often portrayed as being sad and lonely on Valentine’s Day… but the single life is just fine for me at the moment! My Valentine’s Day was not very romantic, but it was pretty delicious! I had some family over for a big Sunday brunch! On the menu: egg muffins with broccoli and cheese, hash brown waffles, fruit salad and chocolate chip waffles with whipped cream and fresh fruit! Here’s how everything turned out! Continue reading

Strawberry “Meatloaf” Bread: Pinterest Fail

As an avid Pinterest user, I’m also a big fan of PinterestFail.com, the website that showcases Pinterest-inspired projects gone awry! During moments of pure procrastination, I can always count on sites like Pinterest FailPinterest You Are Drunk or Pinstrosity for a good laugh! And now, surprisingly, I’m happy to say that I can totally relate! The other day, I had a Pinterest fail of my own! Here’s the story! Continue reading

Procrasti-baking with 3 Pounds of Carrots!

Grated Carrots in Pyrex Measuring Cup

Hi friends! Today I’d like to share another one of my procrasti-baking adventures with you! The ingredient of the day: carrots! Lots of carrots!

It all began with 3 pounds of unclaimed carrots in my fridge… I didn’t want any of them to go to waste, so I did a quick recipe search and came up with a plan! I could’ve just made a huge batch of my favourite carrot soup (recipe to come soon!) or my Thai-inspired carrot, cauliflower and coconut soup, but instead I decided to explore the potential of this versatile root vegetable in desserts! Here’s how everything turned out! Continue reading

Pretty Things and Ergonomics: Thoughts on Aesthetics

Hello, dear readers! Happy Friday! According to my notifications, my blog now has 10 followers! It may not seem like much, but it’s a start! Thank you so much to all of you who are here to support my humble blogging beginnings! I also recently reached my 150th follower on Twitter, which I’m very pleased about!

As I mentioned on Wednesday, I just started a new job. I’m an ergonomic consultant for an occupational health and safety company. It’s quite a mouthful, I know! In a nutshell, my job is to adapt a person’s workspace to best fit their needs. I help my clients to obtain the proper posture and prescribe the appropriate equipment to help relieve pain and discomfort. For example, if an office worker is suffering from low back pain, I may recommend a workstation that allows them to alternate between sitting and standing to help relieve the pressure on their lumbar spine. I make observations, take measurements and recommend devices with features that are most suitable for them. An ergonomically adapted workspace increases productivity, comfort and satisfaction and decreases fatigue and risk of injury. All good things! Yeah! Continue reading
