Pinterest Fail Success! Sloppy Cupcakes…

Pinterest Fail Cupcakes

Hello, dear readers! Firstly, I’d like to apologize for having been M.I.A. for so long… has it been two months? Holy smokes! Well, I suppose anything goes, given the title of my blog! Ha! The truth is, I started a new full-time job a couple of months ago, so I’ve unfortunately been neglecting certain aspects of my life, including blogging!

As an occupational therapist, I’m a strong advocate of work-life balance… gosh, do I ever need to start practicing what I preach!!! Talk about a shoeless cobbler! Well, they say it can take up to 3 months to adjust to a big lifestyle change. So I’ll be stepping up my game over the next month, I suppose! Anyway, I’ve got a few ideas for new blog posts in the works, so don’t give up on me yet!  Today I’m here to share the exciting news of my very first Pinterest Fail success! Continue reading

Italian Almond Pear Cake for Mother’s Day!

Italian Almond Pear Cake - Productively Procrastinating Blog

Hi friends! I think I’ve found my new favourite “fancy” dessert recipe! While searching Pinterest for some Mother’s Day dessert inspiration, I found this recipe for Italian Pear Almond Cake on the blog Seasons & Suppers… and it completely blew me (and my mom) away! With the delicate sweetness of pears and the distinctive flavour of almonds, this cake looks and tastes absolutely delightful! It’s hard to believe that such an easy recipe can yield such a beautiful finished product! Sometimes simple is best! Also, as far as desserts go, this cake is on the healthier side, which is a nice bonus! I followed the original recipe to a T, so I’ll just send you straight to the original link for more details! Weaving and Baking

Weaving with Vintage Elements -

Greetings, dear readers! Happy month of May! Today’s post is the ultimate confirmation that I am indeed a productive procrastinator! I haven’t written in weeks… but that doesn’t mean that nothing has happened! My April weaving project was a blast! I experimented with colours, textures, shapes, pompoms, vintage materials, air plants, buttons, cotton rope, driftwood… I’m loving this art form! There are so many possibilities and I’m just scratching the surface! I feel like this love affair with weaving is here to stay! I recently delivered a selection of wall hangings to Victoire Boutique, a local shop that will arrange them in a window display. I’ll post some photos as soon as it’s set up!  Continue reading

Just Smile and Weave!

Weaving is making a comeback in a big way! Several creative DIY and style bloggers have been talking about it, there are various online tutorials, and of course, Pinterest is a hotspot for weaving inspiration. I made my first woven wall hanging a month ago and since then, I’ve been weaving almost every day, experimenting and developing my personal style as I go! The words “woven wall hanging” may conjure up some image of a horrendous shaggy monster made with various shades of brown, orange and puke green yarn, hanging in your great-aunt’s basement or some cheap motel (see exhibit A). However, the new generation of weavers is shaking things up! Continue reading

Grandma’s Ukrainian Borscht

Classic Ukrainian Borscht - Productively Procrastinating Blog

Borscht,  pronounced more like bor-sh-tch, is a popular Eastern European soup, most often prepared with beets and served with sour cream. There are many different versions of borscht, and this one is my all-time favourite. It’s one of my Ukrainian grandma’s recipes, that she learned from her mother in the old country. It doesn’t get much more authentic than this! Continue reading

Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies - Productively Procrastinating

Hello friends! On this beautiful and sunny Sunday morning, I baked my favourite chewy chocolate chip cookies! I haven’t made these in a while, but they’ve been one of my go-to cookie recipes for years! Today, I used my favourite Hershey’s Chipits Milk Chocolate Chips and threw in some M&M’s Minis for a pop of colour! This recipe is super quick and easy to make! It’s also easy to find – it’s always printed on the back of the Chipits bag! Continue reading

Weaving and Raspberry Sauce

Weaving in Progress - Productively Procrastinating

Greetings, dear readers! In my first Friday Favourites post, I wrote about how much I loved all the neat woven wall hangings I was seeing all over Pinterest and various design blogs! Well, last week, I finally ended up building my own loom! (With some help from my Dad and his carpentry skills!) I learned the basics of weaving from YouTube video tutorials, like the fabulous one below… and now I’m totally hooked! Continue reading
